HolisticOur approach to missions is holistic. This is true not only from the view of the people we work with, but from the way the churches who partner with us can be involved with the work. We seek to minister to the whole person, body soul and spirit. Our ministry efforts are thus not just evangelistic, but targets the whole people group/community in a way that brings the many practical benefits of being in God's kingdom. Because we take the large view of missions, the churches who partner with us are not tied into only one aspect of missions. We are able to offer ministries from hands-on Church Planting, Discipleship, Training, to Practical Projects, and ministry on the individual level. |
EffectiveWe believe that the most effective workers to use in establishing churches amongst unreached people groups are workers from another people group not too far removed (culturally) from that group. We have raised up an excellent team of workers who are able to plant churches far more effectively than the traditional missionary. Not only are these workers good at evangelising, they also are best placed to help the young church become fully Indigenised and self sustaining. |

Efficient The use of Indigenous Workers is the a most efficient way of utilising the scarce resources that the church has at her disposal. When we compare how much it costs to support a traditional missionary from North America (typically US$25 to 40,000 per year for a missionary family) with the typical costs of a Church Planter from Asia (typically US$ 7 to 800 per year) the conclusion is simple - we must get behind these workers! Apart from the benefit of the efficiencies of lower cost of support, New Horizons also an excellent Infrastructure that has been built up over the last 19 years of ministry in Asia. We have access to the key leadership of the churches in many countries, an excellent Church Planting school (re-locatable), good opportunities for hands-on ministry training, as well as a means for local churches to "hit-the-road-running" in missions work. As partnerships are developed, NHM is "used" to enable local churches to "own" missions work quickly and effectively! |
TargetedOur mission targets people groups that are yet unreached. Anyone familiar with missions realises that well over 90% of missions personnel (and finances) is poured into areas where there is already a viable, if not vibrant church. The greatest need in missions today is the Planting of Strong, Indigenous Churches amongst yet unreached people groups. However, even with these people groups there is a massive imbalance. A huge majority of missionaries who work amongst unreached people groups, are working with the Tribals, leaving almost no one targeting where it really counts - the Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim Peoples.

TangibleOne of our great strengths is our ability to provide churches with tangible, hands-on involvement in Missions. All too often, missions is a nebulous idea somewhere out there in the blue-yonder! We provide churches, organisations and individuals with tangible involvement. This can be in the form of Touch tours (short term teams), Adoption of Unreached people groups, Adoption of a Church Planter (or church planting area), right up to field placement of missionaries. We also can help churches setup an effective missions program in their fellowship and train personnel for work in missions. |
